Paul's spaceThere should be a warning label on me!!! June 28 Triathlon Training....I think I can, I think I can....Well, training is full speed ahead. My goal of a the 'Try-a-Tri' in September is rapidly approaching. All seems on track to have little or no issues with the race.
Purchased my new bike earlier in the month. Wow, holy light bike Batman! My 20+ year old supercycle was put to death quickly after getting this new bike. While from one perspective I went a little overboard with this bike, I have zero excuses now. If I suck on the bike portion I have only one person to blame and not the equipment. For those who care, I rounded up an Argon 18 Mercury. Yes, an investment for sure. I have to send out a great thanks to the guys at All Seasons Sports in London. Fantastic service. I'm sure they will get my business again in the future.
I learned with this new bike that potholes are not my friend. The tires are so thin that I got a pinch flat while 10k from home. Unfortunately, did not have my cell or a spare tube with me. Lesson learned. 2k of walking finding a phone and getting a ride sealed the deal on purchasing an underseat case. I keep a spare tube, tire levers, air cartridge and my cell in there when I ride now. It's ok, I learn best through the school or hard knocks, lol.
Found a Tri-suit. Nothing to hide wearing one of those I tell ya! Went with Sugoi Titan. Matches my bike, lol. Well, what can I say....even though I may be slow....at least I'll look good, lol.
At present I'd have to say that my week spot is my swim. Still too embarassed to say my pace or times. Let's just say, I'll be happy in September if I just don't stop. Trying to concentrate on a good stroke and breathing techniques. The rest I'm sure will come with time and stamina.
As you can probably tell, I have no issues with laughing at myself. As I get more serious into doing triathlon stuff I may lose a bit of the laughing as frustration or other feelings. I hope I can in the long run continue to laugh at my past fortunes and misfortunes.
More to come on my progress....
